The eventual route.

First breakdown of the day. Broken chain.

The view.

Second breakdown. More repairs.

Mount Vaca.

Something worth seeing between San Francisco and Sacramento--the view from Mount Vaca. Nearly the entire northern Sierra Nevada is visible from up here--from Mt Lassen to Yosemite. Plus Cache Creek, the Napa area, Mt Tamalpais, much of the Bay Area, Mt Diablo, the delta and the majority of the Central Valley. A great, great view, especially if you know what you're looking at.

Hilltop Hot Springs, Eastern Sierra

With the stress level around here reaching record highs, we decided to make one last grab at summer and head down to the hot springs of the Eastern Sierra.

Fishing in San Francisco Bay.

Fishing in San Francisco Bay with the Minkler clan and JP. A little rough getting up at 4:30am but worth it, if only to get the chance to get out on the famous bay.

Drinking a beer before 9 am on any normal day would sure make me feel like a bum. However, drinking a beer before 9 am when you're fishing and have been up for four hours, that just makes me feel like a man.
